The Petal Dish is a tiny, feather-light vessel inspired by a series of functional ceramics created whilst living in Japan. The Meridian dish is suited to displaying favourite collections and holding tealights.
The Petal Dish is sculpted by hand from a ball of lavafleck stoneware clay that has been wedged through with Red Iron Oxide; flickering with metallic specks that catch the light. It features intricate, hand painted details using wild Pease Bay clay, that take inspiration from shooting stars viewed whilst firing the Anagama in Japan. Throughout the making process, it has been slowly dried and worked into to create a shape that is thin and delicate, like the sakura petals from which it takes its form. The dish has been left unglazed to highlight the beauty of the clay body.
Care: gentle handwashing is recommended. The Petal Dish is not suitable for dishwashers, microwaves or heating in the oven.
