The Petal Dish is a light, Raku-fired dish suited for displaying favourite objects and holding tealights. Their forms are a development of works created whilst in Japan and influenced by the shapes of petals and leaves. Each Dish has been formed by hand from a ball of Ashraf Hanna clay and coated with a clear glaze that forms black, spidery crackles when submerged into sawdust and paper scraps after firing. The foot is handcarved and stamped with the M A N I F E S T O makers mark.
Care: Due to the low firing temperature of Raku, each Petal Dish is fragile and porous. They have been coated in a water resistant sealant so can be used with dry goods, though are not recommended for holding water or liquids. Gentle hand-washing and wiping is recommended. Please do keep in mind that the glaze is porous enough to discolour when used with incense cones.
