Fired over four days in the Anagama whilst on residency in Japan, this Neolithic Seedpod is a tiny sculpture inspired by the shapes of petals and leaves found whilst working in Japan.
The Seedpod is sculpted by hand from a ball of grogged, red clay and white slip has been brushed into it's textured surface. Fly ash has coated the piece whilst firing, giving a complex and deep brown finish with a metallic glimmer; the two ends picking up a mottled green and grey tone. Due to these conditions, it is a one-of-a-kind piece which holds within it both the fond memories from an adventure in Japan and working together within a community of potters who share the same dream: to fire the Anagama!
Care: gentle handwashing is recommended. The Petal Dish is not suitable for dishwashers, microwaves or heating in the oven.
