Fired over four days in the Anagama whilst on residency in Japan, The Lilypad Petal Dish is a tiny, feather-light vessel inspired by the shapes of petals and leaves. The dish is suited to displaying tiny collections and incense cones.
The Petal Dish is sculpted by hand from a ball of grogged, red clay. Fly ash has coated the piece whilst firing, giving a complex and glossy surface that is grey and green along the rim. This mottles down towards the centre into a glossy brown, where it was less exposed. Due to these conditions, it is a one-of-a-kind piece which holds within it both the fond memories from an adventure in Japan and working together within a community of potters who share the same dream: to fire the Anagama!
Care: gentle handwashing is recommended. The Petal Dish is not suitable for dishwashers, microwaves or heating in the oven.
